The Live Casino Ceiling - What Evolution's Q2 Dip and Pragmatic's Table Sprint Tell CCTV Games
Evolution's live casino revenue just posted its first year-on-year decline. Pragmatic added a Bogota studio. Both signals point to the same category ceiling - and to where CCTV games actually fit.

Evolution's Q2 2026 report just marked the first year-on-year decline in live casino revenue since the segment became a mainstream vertical, while Pragmatic Play Live spent the same quarter opening studios in Bogota and Michigan to hit more than 500 live tables. The two data points read as opposites, but together they describe a ceiling - and that ceiling is exactly where CCTV games are being asked to sit.
Evolution's live segment posted €437.3 million in Q2, down 3.6% year-on-year, with the company attributing "most" of the drop to Europe (Evolution Q2 report, 17 July 2026). RNG - the same category CCTV games are technically classified under by most operators - grew 14% to €80.5 million, the first double-digit RNG print for Evolution in roughly three years.
The Europe live ceiling
Evolution still runs the industry. Independent penetration data pegs it at 94.3% of tracked operators (TopCasinos.Live, June 2026), and the 65.9% EBITDA margin the company held in Q2 is the kind of number vertical categories quote as a proof point.
What changed is direction. European live revenue has been flat to down across the last four quarters. Constant-currency growth of 2.4% still looks positive, but the reported number is now a negative print. CEO Martin Carlesund's Q2 script called out Europe first and Asia second on the earnings call.
For a category that spent 2020 to 2024 growing at an estimated 25% CAGR (DeucesCracked, May 2026), a print with a minus sign in front of it changes the acquisition math for every operator with a live line item.
Pragmatic's answer is more tables
Pragmatic Play took the same signal and pushed harder. The company now runs about 500 live tables, up from 50 in 2019, with sources indicating a further 1,000+ tables and studio expansion from five sites to nine (Invision Game Community, June 2026). Bogota went live this year at a reported $15 million build cost.
Pragmatic's own June 2026 strategic review put a fine point on the read: exit sportsbook, bingo and virtuals, and concentrate on slots, live casino, crash and RNG (Casino News Daily, June 2026). Crash sits in the same bucket most category trackers use for CCTV games. Pragmatic did not name CCTV, but the taxonomy is the same.
Where the format fit lands
Look at the three signals together. Live casino Europe is at a plateau. RNG grew 14% at Evolution and became a strategic pillar at Pragmatic. Crash and CCTV are in the growth bucket both suppliers are now protecting.
The read for CCTV games is not that live is losing. Live still owns the category and, on North American growth, still has a story. The read is that live-format innovation is now table-count expansion rather than format expansion. Adding a Bogota studio is a distribution move, not a category move.
CCTV games sit on the other side of that split. Rush Hour, Duck River, Snow Run and Footfall add a new category, not a new table, and the industry share numbers say that is now the segment operators are told to accept content from. The Pragmatic memo says it explicitly. The Evolution numbers say it by omission.
What operators are watching next
Three things are worth tracking through Q3. First, whether Evolution's Q3 live print is another negative one, which would settle the "cyclical vs. structural" question. Second, whether Pragmatic's Q3 update names CCTV or crash content on the live-lobby integration side - the same live infrastructure could carry both. Third, whether the operators most exposed to live in Europe start reallocating homepage real estate to alternative formats.
Stake, Roobet, Shuffle and Razed already run CCTV games in the live-adjacent lobby slot. See Where to Play for the current operator lineup and the promo codes tied to each. The industry-level signal is that the format-fit conversation is now being decided by category expansion budgets, not table counts.
